The Holy Spirit Acts 1:8 “You will receive POWER when the HS comes on you”
2 things quickly…
1. Some people aren’t even AWARE of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 19:1-3 “While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when[a] you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
2. Some people don’t ALLOW the Holy Spirit to work in them.
Acts 7:51“You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!”
The Holy Spirit has the power to COMFORT you.
John 14:16 (KJV) “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.”
2. The Holy Spirit has the power to will COUNSEL you.
John 16:13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth comes, He will GUIDE you in all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.”
I Corinthians 2:9-10 “However, as it is written:“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him ”[a]—10 but God has revealed it to us BY HIS SPIRIT. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”
Isaiah 30:21 “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”
3. The Holy Spirit has the power to CONVICT you.
John 16:8 “When the Spirit comes, he will CONVICT the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.”
4. The Holy Spirit has the power to CHANGE YOU.
Titus 3:5 NLT “He (God) saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and NEW LIFE through THE HOLY SPIRIT.”
Ephesians 3:16 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through His Spirit IN YOUR INNER BEING.”
1. PRAYER #1: God help me to live for your approval only. Galatians 1:10 "Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.”
2. PRAYER #2: God help me to give people what they really need, not just what they think they need.
Acts 3:6 ”Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I will give you. In the name of Jesus Christ rise up and walk"
3. PRAYER 3#: God help me to set up healthy boundaries. Matthew 16:23
"You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."
4. PRAYER #4: God help me to see my own tendencies to be critical, manipulative or needy and surrender these tendencies to you.
Genesis 2:15 “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
Proverbs 24:30 I passed by a lazy person’s field and by the vineyard of someone with no sense.31 Thorns had grown up everywhere. The ground was covered with weeds, and the stone walls had fallen down. 32 I thought about what I had seen; I learned this lesson from what I saw. 33 You sleep a little; you take a nap. You fold your hands and lie down to rest. 34 Soon you will be as poor as if you had been robbed; you will have as little as if you had been held up.
1. PULL THE WEEDS
a. Frustrations
b. Fights
c. Failures
Hebrews 12:15 “Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many”
Ephesians 4:26-27 “DO NOT LET THE SUN GO DOWN WHILE YOU ARE STILL ANGRY, and do not give the devil a foothold.”
2. PLANT THE SEEDS
Galatians 6:7-9 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
a. You reap WHAT you sow. b. You reap WHERE you sow.
