Planted

Psalms 52:8 NIV ”But I am like an olive tree
flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God’s unfailing love
for ever and ever.
9 For what you have done I will always praise you
in the presence of your faithful people.
And I will hope in your name,
for your name is good.

Key thought…
“If you want to flourish you have to get planted”
3 things that happen when we get planted in God’s house.

1. Roots go deep

Jeremiah 17:8 NLT “They are like trees PLANTED along a riverbank, with ROOTS that reach DEEP into the water. Such trees are NOT BOTHERED by the heat or WORRIED by long months of drought…

Psalm 1:1- 3 NIV “Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree PLANTED by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.”

2. Tree is strong

Psalm 92:12 NIV “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; PLANTED in the house of the Lord.”

3. Fruit will last

Lasting fruits take time to produce.

2 things you can do:

  1. Find a church

2. Get planted

Faith In Our Identity

Mark 10:13-16
13 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.
14 When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.

15 I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” 16 Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.

  1. Faith Like a Child- (Faith in who He is)

Romans 10:17
17
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

  1. Faith In Who I Am- (What He says about me)

Jeremiah 1:5
I knew you while you were still in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart.

  1. Faith In What He Says- (No matter the circumstance)

Mark 10:13

HEBREWS 11:4 NLT
4
By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.

GENESIS 4:4-8 NLT
4
Now Adam had sexual relations with his wife, Eve, and she became pregnant. When she gave birth to Cain, she said, “With the Lord’s help, I have produced a man!” 2 Later she gave birth to his brother and named him Abel.
When they grew up, Abel became a shepherd, while Cain cultivated the ground.
3 When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the Lord. 4 Abel also brought a gift—the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, 5 but he did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected.
6 “Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? 7 You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”
8 One day Cain suggested to his brother, “Let’s go out into the fields.”And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him.
