Hello My Name Is
Part 4
Mad
Matthew 24:10-13 NKJV “And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”
Three ways we get mad:
1. Mad at our brother
2. Mad at our sister
Luke 10:38-42 NLT “As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39 Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. 40 But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” 41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
3. Mad at God
John 11:21 NIV “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died”
Psalm 73:2-5 NCV “I had almost stopped believing; I had almost lost my faith because I was jealous of proud people. I saw wicked people doing well. 4 They are not suffering; they are healthy and strong. 5 They don’t have troubles like the rest of us; they don’t have problems like other people.”
verse 16-20 “I tried to understand all this, but it was too hard for me to see 17 until I went to the Temple of God. Then I understood what will happen to them. 18 You have put them in danger; you cause them to be destroyed. 19 They are destroyed in a moment; they are swept away by terrors. 20 It will be like waking from a dream. Lord, when you rise up, they will disappear.”
The key to being free from offense…
SURRENDER!
Philippians 2:6 NIV “Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”
Philippians 2:17 NIV “But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.”
Matthew 10:39 NIV “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”

Hello My Name Is
Part 3
I’m Tired
Ecclesiastes 2:22-23 Solomon asked a question:
"What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest..."
Three dangerous things…
1. When I am tired I LET MY GUARD DOWN.
Judges 4:17-21 “Sisera, meanwhile, fled on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, because there was an alliance between Jabin king of Hazor and the family of Heber the Kenite. 18 Jael went out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Come, my lord, come right in. Don’t be afraid.” So he entered her tent, and she covered him with a blanket. 19 “I’m thirsty,” he said. “Please give me some water.” She opened a skin of milk, gave him a drink, and covered him up. 20 “Stand in the doorway of the tent,” he told her. “If someone comes by and asks you, ‘Is anyone in there?’ say ‘No.’” 21 But Jael, Heber’s wife, picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went quietly to him while he lay fast asleep, exhausted. She drove the peg through his temple into the ground, and he died.”
Luke 21:34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.”
2. When I am tired my EMOTIONS are INCONSISTENT.
3. When I am tired I can FORGET MY PURPOSE.
Hebrews 12:2-3 “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not GROW WEARY AND LOSE HEART.”
Psalm 62:1 "My soul finds rest in GOD ALONE; my salvation comes from Him."
Matthew 11:28-30 “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you REST. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 MSG “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Three things about resting in Jesus…
1. Walk with me
Verse 29 NIV “take my yoke upon you.”
MSG ”Walk with me…”
2. Work with me
MSG “walk with me and work with me.”
Isaiah 40:30-31 “Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
3. Watch me
MSG “Walk with me and work with me—WATCH how I do it. LEARN the unforced rhythms of grace.”
a. Spiritual rest
Mark 1:35 ESV “very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place and there he prayed.”
b. Physical rest
Mark 4:38 “Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
c. Relational rest
Mark 7:24 “Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it…”
Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
