Three of the most teachable moments in a family:

1. WHEN THEY MESS UP

How do we turn mess up moments into teachable moments?

a. Sometimes we let them learn

Proverbs 13:24 TPT “If you withhold correction and punishment from your children,
you demonstrate a lack of true love. So prove your love and be prompt to punish them.”

Discipline should always be about discipleship.

Repeatable Moments

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NIV “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commands that I give you today are to be upon your heart, impress them on your children, talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates”

Four repeatable moments:

1. Show the way

Deuteronomy 6:4 NIV
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commands that I give you today are to be upon your heart, impress them on your children…”

“You can teach what you know, but you will reproduce who you are.”

2. Say the words

Deuteronomy 6:7 NIV
Talk about them when you sit at home”

Mark 10:16 NIV “and he took the children in his arms and put his hands on them and BLESSED THEM.”

Proverbs 18:21 NIV “The tongue has the power of life and death.”

Matthew 3:17 NIV “This is my son whom I love and I am well pleased with him”

3. Spend the time

4. Set the boundaries
