“Don’t Lose Heart” and “Step Out”

“Don’t Lose Heart” and “Step Out” Concerning the Subject of Prayer
Don Twiford

Jesus Gave Us this Example…
Luke 18:1-8 ESV
And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

Continue to Pray because God hears and answers!

Rom 12:12 ESV
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Col 4:2 ESV Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.

1 Thess 5:17 ESV pray without ceasing,

1. Don’t Lose Heart

Praying is a gift from God rooted in the truth that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do.

Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

2. STEP OUT

John 21:1-2 ESV After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.

  • These 7 Disciples were discouraged, disheartened, distracted, distressed, they were dis…something.

  • They fished all night and caught nothing.

  • Jesus said “Cast your net on the right side of the boat.”

  • HOW CLOSE WERE THEY TO A MIRACLE?

  • One obedient step away.

STEP OUT INTO HIS PROVISION

  • Jesus’ Words made the fish gather so the net could catch them

  • Your step may be as close as the Prayer Team on the side wall this morning.

  • Your step may be raising your hand, praying the Prayer of Salvation and following Jesus.

  • Your step may be joining that Life Group the Lord has been drawing you to.

When Midnight Comes

Psalm 119:58-62 NIV

I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law. At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws.

All In: For The Future Part 4

ALL IN: For the Future
Part 4

Proverbs 3:5 “trust in the Lord with ALL YOUR HEART…”

Proverbs 3:9-10 Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Five things about Tithing…
1. Tithing is about PRIORITY!

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve TWO MASTERS. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Deuteronomy 14:23b TLBTHE PURPOSE OF TITHING is to teach you always to PUT GOD FIRST in your lives.”

Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor the Lord by giving him the FIRST PART OF ALL YOUR INCOME, and he will fill your barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines”

2. Tithing is about PROGRESS.

3. Tithing is about PERSPECTIVE

Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

4. Tithing is about POSITION.

Psalm 25:12-13 “Where is the man who fears the Lord? God will teach him how to choose the best.13 He shall live within God’s CIRCLE OF BLESSING, and his children shall inherit the earth.”

Malachi 3:10 “Bring the tithe… OPEN UP THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN and POUR OUT BLESSINGS…”

Luke 6:38
give and it will be given to you good measure pressed down shaken together and running over”

5. Tithing is about PARTICIPATION

Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the STOREHOUSESO THAT there may be food in my house…”

Genesis 12:2-3 “I will bless you; I will make your name great, and YOU WILL BE A BLESSING. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and ALL PEOPLES ON EARTH WILL BE BLESSED THROUGH YOU.”

Malachi 3:10 “TEST ME IN THIS says the Lord and see if I will not throw open the flood gates of heaven…”
