2 Corinthians 10:3-4 “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

John 13:2-4 “The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 JESUS KNEW that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.”


THREE WAYS TO COMBAT LIES:


1. RECOGNIZE the lie


Proverbs 4:23 CEV "Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life."


Proverbs 23:7 "as a man thinks within himself so is he."


2 Corinthians 10:5 "we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."



2. REJECT the lie


2 Corinthians 10:5 " We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God…

Jeremiah 12:3 ‘Yet you know me, O LORD; you see me and test my thoughts about you. Drag them off like sheep to be butchered! Set them apart for the day of slaughter!’


3. REPLACE the lie with the truth


Philippians 4:7-8
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

3 focus areas…

  1. Start focusing INWARD.

Proverbs 31:30 says “ Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn’t last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised.”

I Timothy 6:11-12 “But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

2. STOP focusing OUTWARD



1 Samuel 16: 7 “Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart.”

4-6 Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in.”

3. STAY focused UPWARD



I Corinthians 7:7 MSG “Sometimes I wish everyone were single like me—a simpler life in many ways! But celibacy is not for everyone any more than marriage is. God gives the gift of the single life to some, the gift of the married life to others.”

I Corinthians 7:32-35 MSG “I want you to live as free of complications as possible. When you’re unmarried, you’re free to concentrate on simply pleasing the Master. Marriage involves you in all the nuts and bolts of domestic life and in wanting to please your spouse, leading to so many more demands on your attention. The time and energy that married people spend on caring for and nurturing each other, the unmarried can spend in becoming whole and holy instruments of God. I’m trying to be helpful and make it as easy as possible for you, not make things harder. All I want is for you to be able to develop a way of life in which you can spend plenty of time together with the Master without a lot of distractions.

  1. Don’t do BLEND DATES.


2 Corinthians 6:14-15 talks about this

Light and darkness cannot share together. 15 How can Christ and Belial, the devil, have any agreement? What can a believer have together with a nonbeliever?”

2. Don’t do BLIND DATES


a. Don’t date those who don’t have the SAME VISION as you

c. Don’t date people who IMPAIR YOUR VISION
