Jesus the Teacher

Who Is Jesus?
Part 1
Jesus is THE TEACHER

I Corinthians 2:1-2 MSG “You’ll remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God’s master stroke, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and WHO HE IS; then Jesus and WHAT HE DID—Jesus crucified.”

Two ways that Jesus is the Teacher

1. What he SAID

Matthew 4:23 “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom”

John 7:46 NCV “The words he says are greater than the words of any other person who has ever spoken!”

2. How He LIVED

John 13:15 “For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did…”

Jesus taught us…

1. How to SERVE

John 13:1-6 MSG
“Just before the Passover Feast, Jesus knew that the time had come to leave this world to go to the Father. Having LOVED his dear companions, he CONTINUED TO LOVE THEM right to the end. It was suppertime. The Devil by now had Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot, firmly in his grip, all set for the betrayal. 3-6 Jesus knew that the Father had put him in complete charge of everything, that he came from God and was on his way back to God. So he GOT UP from the supper table, SET ASIDE his robe, and put on an apron. Then he POURED WATER into a basin and began to wash the feet of the disciples, drying them with his apron.”

Philippians 2:5
“your attitude should be the same as Christ Jesus”

2. How to SURRENDER

Luke 22:41-44 “He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.”

3. How to SUFFER

4. How to finish STRONG

John 19:28-30 “Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Beauty and the Beast

At the Movies
Part 5
Beauty and the Beast

1. We all have an ugly side

Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and fall short…”

Romans 3:10 “no one is righteous, not even one”

James 2:10 “For the person who keeps all of the laws EXCEPT ONE is AS GUILTY as a person who has broken all of God's laws.”

2. Sometimes the ugly side is hard to see in the mirror

Romans 6:23 “the payment for sin is DEATH”

3. God loves us in spite of our ugliness

Romans 5:6-8 “When we were UTTERLY HELPLESS, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners… “

verse 8 “…God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Romans 6:1 “Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means!”

4. Gods love transforms our ugly into beauty

1 Timothy 1:15
“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst. 16 But I was given mercy so that in me, the worst of all sinners, Christ Jesus could show that he has patience without limit. His patience with me made me an example for those who would believe in him and have life forever.’
