Our Song: You've lost that loving feeling

Our Song
Part 2
You’ve Lost the Lovin’ Feeling

Reasons for conflict

1. Pain

Hurt people hurt people

2. Personalities

A. Sometimes its not wrong its just different

B.It’s the differences that make you complete

C. Decide what am I willing to accept and what do I need to address?

3. Pride

Proverbs 13:10a “pride leads to arguments.”

James 4:1 MSG “Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves.

3 practical thoughts…

1. Lay down your TOOL BOX and take up your TOWEL

You are not called to FIX your spouse you are called to SERVE your spouse.

John 13:1-5
“It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love. 2 The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”

John 13:1 “Having loved his own who were in the world,
he now showed them the full extent of his love.”

2. Lay down your PING PONG PADDLE and pick up your BASEBALL GLOVE

James 1:19 “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry”

3. Lay down your LUGGAGE and take up GOD’S LOVE.

Isaiah 53:5 “he was CRUSHED for our iniquities”

Colossians 1:19 (MSG) “all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross.

Our Song: Forever and Ever Amen

Our Song
Part 3
Forever and Ever Amen

3 reasons marriages fail

1. WRONG EXPECTATIONS

2. POOR COMMUNICATION

a. Family expectations
b. Calendar expectations
c. Money expectations
d. Children expectations

3. DIVIDED VISION

Amos 3:3 NLT “Can two people walk together without agreeing on the DIRECTION?

Ephesians 5:21-27 “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. 24 As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. 25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.”

Matthew 19:3-6 “Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?” 4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[a] 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[b]? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Small things Big Difference

2 Kings 5:1 “Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a GREAT MAN in the sight of his master and HIGHLY REGARDED, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a VALIANT SOLDIER, BUT he had leprosy.”

2 Kings 5:2 “A YOUNG GIRL from Israel…who served Naaman’s wife. 3 said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”

2 Kings 5:9 "So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.”

2 Kings 5:11-13 “But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. 12 Are not… the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be cleansed?” So he turned and went off in a rage. 13 Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some GREAT THING, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed’!”

Two things from the story today...

1. What looks BIG can become SMALL if we BELIEVE.

Matthew 17:20 “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

James 2:17 “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

2. What seems SMALL can become BIG if we OBEY.

2 Kings 5:11 “I thought he would come and stand and wave his hand…”

2 Kings 5:13 “Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you,Wash and be cleansed!
