We Bought a Zoo

Romans 1:17 NCV “But those who are right with God will live by faith.”

Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.”

A little bit of faith can make a great deal of difference.

What difference can I make?

  1. If you are going to make a difference you can’t be afraid to STAND OUT.

In order to make a difference you have to be different.

2. If you are going to make a difference you can’t be afraid to WORK HARD.

3. If you’re going to make a difference you can’t be afraid to STAY THE COURSE.

Galatians 6:9
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Avengers End Game

Why do I struggle?

1. We have AN ENEMY.

Ephesians 6:11-12 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

I Peter 5:8-9 “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.

2. We have SUPER POWER.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds

What are some of our weapons?

a. The NAME of Jesus

Philippians 2:9-11 "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

b. The WORD of God

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

c. The Grace of God

2 Corinthians 12:9 “ But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

3. We are part of a TEAM.

Ecclesiastes 4:8-12 “There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. “For whom am I toiling,” he asked, “and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment? This too is meaningless— a miserable business! 9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

4. We WIN in the end.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Isaiah 14:13-14 “You said in your heart, I will ascend to Heaven. I will raise my throne above the stars. I will sit enthroned on the mount of the assembly of the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds. I will make myself like the Most High.”

1. Pride precedes failure

Proverbs 16:18
“Pride leads to destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Proverbs 18:12 “Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud.”

2. Pride produces conflict

Proverbs 13:10 “Pride only leads to quarrels.”

Proverbs 28:25 “He that is proud at heart stirs up strife.”

3. Pride prevents growth

Proverbs 10:17 (TLB) “Anyone willing to be corrected is on the pathway to life. But anyone refusing has lost his chance.”

Proverbs 11:2 (NCV) “Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”

4. Humility promotes favor

James 4:6
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

I Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

Luke 14:11 “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The Greatest Showman

1. Big dreams can DRIVE us.

Right dreams can drive us toward God

Jeremiah 29:11 “for I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you have hope and a future.”

Ephesians 2:10 “we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Wrong dreams can drive us away from God

Ecclesiastes 2:10 “I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil. 11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was MEANINGLESS, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.”

2. Wrong dreams can BLIND us.

3. God dreams will REMIND us.
